In her workshops at The Foggy Pearl on the coast of Maine, Mariah guides participants of all levels through painting a coastal landscape in acrylic on canvas, encouraging an intuitive and observational approach to both place and material. Participants will start the class by exploring the coastline and capturing images that spark inspiration for a painting. Each person leaves with a finished piece of their own, along with a deeper understanding of process, environment, and personal expression.

❋ A Location Full of InspiraionWe will start the day by exploring the beauty of campus while learning about composition and color. Each participant will get to choose which landscape view they’d like to paint. Open to artists of all levels!
❋ Expert FacilitationLed by an experienced landscape painter from Maine and former Acadia National Park Artist-in-Residence, we will go through tutorials of painting the background, middleground, and foreground, as well as helpful acrylic techniques. Workshops will consist of general group instruction with one-on-one support.
❋ Collaborative EnergyLearning from others is an exciting part of the process! We will end the class by appreciating all of the paintings we have made and what we enjoy about each.
Painting on-site
Guests are encouraged to explore the property—coastal forest, waterfront, and open views—allowing the environment to shape their work. Painting takes place in the bar with its open roll-up door framing the water, or on the pavilion overlooking Mount Desert Island, where light, movement, and wildlife become part of the process.
